Fried Okra...Vertically?

Have you ever had fried okra?  Usually, they are cut horizontally, right?  Making a bunch of little pellets to fry.  Well, Hubby and I were dining out the other day for lunch and I had ordered my usual with fried okra...well...blow me down!  Why haven't I thought of doing it this way before?  Much easier than doing all that slicing!
Use your favorite coating and fry!
Loved these...You're welcome!

Thank you so much for your visit and comment. It's wonderful to meet you. I haven't had okra in such a long time and this looks absolutely scrumptious.

I have an update to the High Efficiency/Most Compatible post I did before that will be posted tomorrow. Luckily, my computer does recognize the High Efficiency photos so for everyday photos, I changed it back to that setting. For anything important, I'll change it to Most Compatible. There is a significant difference in the file size.

I have only had fried okra once, and that was when we were driving south, and visited Lambert‘s café in Sikeston, Missouri. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Lamberts before, but it’s known as “Home of the Throwed Rolls.“ Yes, they throw rolls across the room into your waiting hand. I was fortunate enough to catch mine. My husband had his bonk off the top of his head. Anyway, they come around while you’re waiting for your food and serve you fried okra. I really liked it. I never thought about making my own. I certainly can see why cutting it lengthwise would make it easier to prepare.
I have never had okra due to my lifelong avoidance of anything new on my plate. Thos look delicious!

I am a total fan of okra ... except for the sliminess when cutting it up to cook. I've been wanting to make a gumbo and also a stewed okra ... perhaps during this Lenten season, in which I've pledged to double down on the veggie recipes and get away from the meat based dishes (this will be hard !). Now, looking at this fried okra, I'm triply inspired !
Donna, I'm with you! Anytime I can skip a step, I'm all for it! And this is actually much prettier than the sliced okra, so win-win.
