French Toast with Vanilla Custard and Strawberries
This recipe is for two humans...There IS a small amount of leftover custard so you might offer it to some family member that walks on all fours...LOLGet 4 to 5 large strawberries and slice any way you want! Put aside.
3 tablespoons cornstarch, 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla,
3 cups of milk, 4 beaten eggs in a bowl (for dipping bread),
3 Egg Yolks (for custard), 4-6 slices of Any Bread You Want to Use!
Get out a nice size sauce pan, put in the cornstarch, sugar, milk. Turn on the heat to medium high and start stirring with a whisk, if you have one...cook until it's coating the back of a spoon...You don't want it thick! This is a Sauce NOT pie filling! Set off to the side...Gently stir in the 3 beaten egg yolks and add butter and vanilla. DO NOT pour egg yolks into steaming hot sauce! They WILL curdle your sauce! If you're in a hurry, take out a small amount of sauce in a bowl, mix in a small amount of sauce...stir well! NOW, pour into the Big pot of sauce...stir REALLY well...set aside.

Crack open the remaining eggs, mix together...This is for dipping your bread in.
Start frying up your bread.....
Now put it all together! Really simple but plan on taking some time to pull it all together. You'll also want to have some bacon or ham? Get it going early and just keep it warm in the microwave. If your Hubby or child is just standing there staring and drooling...put 'em to work!!Hahaaa..... If you already have a a simple custard recipe, use it! This recipe just reminded me of One Great Big Old batch of bread pudding with strawberries!! Lord it was good!
Hope you'll try it! Have a Great day everyone!! Any questions? Just leave me a comment and I'll get back over and leave you an answer!
